I basically do it when I can in the city. On the highway, not so often. I usually coast on off ramps and that's basically it.

Also, when you are on highways, cruise control helps to keep your gas consumption constant as you're not constantly braking/accelerating.

on a 55L Tank, the most I squeezed out of it before filling up is a little over 700km (basically all highway). I drive a Mazda 3, rated at 6.4L/100KM highway and 9.1L/100KM City
