Default Hypermiling

Anyone else into this? I'm far from an 'extreme' hypermiler, but I get some kind of (sick?) joy out of seeing how high I can get the number on my trip odometer each fill-up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermiling

Last time I filled up, I went 170km on almost exactly 1/4 of my tank of gas in a Ford Focus wagon ... which I've seen mileage numbers hovering around 9.2L/100km. Gas tank capacity is about 52L or so. Not Earth-shattering numbers, but still.

Generally all I do is try to anticipate red/green lights to avoid excessive acceleration or braking; take turns at higher than normal speed to minimize braking and keep my tires inflated a bit more than normal.

All this being said, I don't drive like a complete fata out there ... I am mindful of others and don't impose my will on others but I thought it might be an interesting discussion ... you seem to get a lot of people championing aggressive driving/speeding and I am wondering if I am the only one who drives this way!
