If you follow this advice, you'll spend your first season learning how to balance, without the slightest clue that you can't hit the broom, and the following 8 seasons learning to un-do the lousy techniques you've developed by yourself.
Get someone to teach you. Doesn't have to be a professional if you know a good curler who will help, but you don't want to just go out and try it. At least, that's if you ever want to play up to your potential.
