Wouldn't you make fun of someone at the Dome for saying the same things about a hockey game?
On TV, you can always rely on the play by play and colour guys to tell you what's going on, who's on the ice, etc. You don't get that live.
On TV, you can usually see where the puck is at any given time. When watching live, there may be times when the action is at the other end of the rink and you can't really make out a lot of what's going on.
Being there live, whether for hockey or curling, at least to me, is about the atmosphere as much as actually watching the game. I like watching the things the cameras never pick up like the stuff that's going on behind the scenes away from the action. Maybe it's Martin and Stoughton yucking it up between shots or someone jawing away with Phaneuf as they both go off for a change behind the play.
I really do, however, enjoy hearing what all the players have to say during the curling events. Micing up the players was a great idea and really does add to things. If there was an FM broadcast of the TSN play by play that you could pick up on a small radio/headset at the Dome, you would have been all set.
