girls night out series of unfortunate events
the RED PIANO piano bar on bourbon street in edmonton SUCKS.
i went up to edmonton with a friend to join up with 4 of our friends that live there for a weekend of girls fun. we made reservations at the Red Piano weeks ago.
we show up for our reservation, and were seated in a booth with absolutley no view of the pianos at all. so, we looked around and saw that there were several other booths empty with a perfect view, so, i asked the guy at the front door if we could move. he said no b/c they have bigger groups coming that reserved before we did, but that if they didn't show up we could move. so, that was fine, but then i looked around at the other booths and they seemed to be the same size. but, whatever, the show wasn't on yet, so, i figured, we'll just eat our food, and then at like 9 if the other groups hadn't shown up yet, we will ask again to be moved.
so, we order our food, one girl got the wrong order, and another girls order was cooked completely in salt. it was brutal. so, the one that got the wrong order told the waitress that wasn't what she ordered, so, it was sent back. the girl whos food was cooked completely in salt, sent her meal back as well but was told that she will still be charged for it b/c she took a few bites.
finally the girl who got the wrong order got her correct order AFTER the rest of us were done eating.
so, we're like, ok, well, stuff happens.....thinking this would be the end.
then we order another round of drinks. when the drinks came, i got the wrong one. but by the time i realized it, the waitress was gone. so, i drank it anyway b/c at this point, we were only getting service once every 20 minutes of we were lucky.
finally when the waitress came back, i said, thanks for the drink before, it was tasty, but can i please have the drink i originally ordered? the waitress said, that WAS the drink i ordered. i said NO. the drink i ordered doesnt' come with a sugared rim.
she sd OH. well, i guess the drink order got screwed up. i said...DUH you think?
so, she brings me my drink and by this time, enough annoying stuff has happend that we want to talk to the manager. LOW AND BEHOLD...the manager is the guy i asked if we could move to another table.
he comes over to the table we make our complaint, AND we want to be moved. he literally told us that we were less important than the owners friends who MIGHT show up and that we can not move tables.
he also told us that he was not willing to comp the girls food who got the wrong order...BECAUSE SHE ATE IT..........................half an hour AFTER we were all done eating.
so, we finally convince him to move us...SHOCKINGLY the table he moved us to, is SMALLER as i suspected. not bigger like he told us originally.
so, now we're just all kinds of angry and ask for the bill.
we get the bill.....we were overcharged by $200. there were 3 entrees on there and 2 appetizers we did NOT order.
so, we get the "manager" back and he asks...are you sure you didn't order this food?
OOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGG now you're calling us liars? ask your half witted waitress for clarification for god sake!!!!
so, he takes the bill away, comes back..ITS STILL WRONG. so, we physically pulled out a pen and wrote on it what we ordered and crossed off the stuff we didn't order and sent it back. it came back WRONG AGAIN! so, one of our girls got so mad she demanded to speak to the owner.
she came back with the correct bill this time but NO COMPENSATION at all.
i can not get over the sheer brutalness and stupidity of this establishment and i can not believe that this "manager" is actually in a position of importance. he can't possibly be a manager b/c i can not imagine any SMART business owner putting a person that clueless about customer service in charge of anything including washing dishes.
in the end, we paid the bill...angrily...went to a pub a couple doors down, but then decided that we should go back to the hotel and drink in the lounge where we'd have all the room in the world. low and behold the service was great and the drinks were $3 cheaper.
RED PIANO IN EDMONTON SUCKS.
if anyone wants a good piano bar experience (which i highly recommend) you should go to aussie rules in calgary. every table has PERFECT view of the pianos, the food is good and the staff have more than a 70 iq.
