Laugh.# I just stumbled across this.
The Modern Library had a big vote-off (in 1999) for the 100 best novels of the 20th century and the same for non-fiction.#
The "public" voted Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard to be the 3rd best novel of the century.
"Dianetics..." by L. Ron Hubbard was voted as the second finest work of non-fiction produced in that time.
I don't normally get into these conspiracy theories, but this reeks of the biggest poll hijack there ever was with more than 400,000 votes cast.
Ayn Rand fans were in on it too.

I was reading about that in one of the links someone posted here. Apparently the church will release a book, then buy up loads of copies in the first few weeks to put it onto the best sellers list. It's quite the conspiracy, and no doubt takes a lot of cash to pull off.
I wonder if they own Tramps used book and CD stores all over the states as well? [/b][/quote]
Nope, the Church sends teams to bookstores, buys the books (making sure they are kept mint condition), and then returns them to their own distribution facility to send back to the bookstores again! One store manager realized what was happening when he got a shipment of "new books" in and noticed that some of them still had the same price sticker from his store that wasn't removed!
I do however, find it hilarious that the Randians
OUT-HIJACKED the scientologists!!! LOL!!!!
