1. Gilbert Brule, 3rd overall

Brule showcased his skills en route to winning MVP at the 2005 CHL Top Prospects game. Sydney Crosby got scared and didn't want to be embarresed so he stayed home.

2. Bobby Ryan, 5th overall

Scout: He sees the ice, next to Crosby, the best in the draft; his vision and knowledge of the game and natural hockey smarts are a gift.

3. Martin Hanzal, 11th overall

Hanzal is a dominant power center who was easily one of the best players in the World Under-18 Championships, where he elevated his game to another level. The Czech pivot projects to be a first line NHL center, with both size and an impressive skill set.

4. Adam McQuaid, 41st Overall

Scout: He’s a hell of a player. I think he’s better than people are giving him credit for because I think this kid is going to be a NHL player.

5. Justin Abdelkader, 50th overall

A USHL All-Star. Scored 52 points and was a +20 in 60 games with Cedar Raphids

6. Patrick Davis, 52nd overall

Scout: Davis does one thing every night that makes you say ‘wow, this kid is going to be a player!’

7. Paul Kurceba, 104th overall

Played with Dion Phaneuf all year in Red Deer and is coached by a Sutter!

8. Jason Bailey, 105th overall

He has a nice smile.

9. Dave Schlemko, 147th overall

Scout: He’s very good one on one. Forwards have a very difficult time getting around him and they rarely do. He moves the puck really well; he makes great outlet pass by finding the man and making crisp pass on the tape.
