Well not to really defend Cruise but there are many conditions that are considered a psychiatric disease that can indeed be controlled or even cured through proper nutrition. There are several studies outlning just that...especially in the case of hyperactivity in kids. It isn't surprising given the body is essentially made up of and runs through a collection of chemicals. If those chemicals are out of whack through some sort of mineral or vitamin deficiency (or excess) you have to expect things to happen.
There is also very little question that Psychiatry as a science has been unwilling to look at these alternative control mechanisms seriously until very recently when some big name trusted researchers began verifying data and coming to the same conclusions that were considered simply old-wives tales (especially in kid behaviour). And really it is funny seeing as they themselves use chemicals to modify and control behaviour that they would be so reluctant to explore all the potential causes to the underlying imbalance of which nutrition and acitivty can be such a cause.

That said, Curise goes completely overboard the other way as many "fanatics" do by simply condemning psychiatry as a pseudo-science. Psychiatry has some very good things to teach us and has developed some very good treatments...chemically and otherwise. Nutrition though working in many cases and for many disorders is not a universal cure all and it probably never will be as the other big factor is bound to be genetics. Some people do need other drugs to control behaviour and make them able to live life to the fullest and be contributing members of society.
