Case in point, I got an infraction for a comment which was sarcastic that another poster got offended over. Now, I was insulting him in a sarcastic manner, and others laughed at it, but apparently he thought I was serious and so WHAMMO! Second infraction.
Green text would have likely avoided that situation, however, the joke would have lost the majority of it's effect. The fact that he got offended made it funnier.
