Old metal or newer metal?
What do you currently like?
|
Both really. I'm currently into:
Children of Bodom,
Dimmu Borgir,
Kataklysm,
Mastodon,
Pantera,
Sepultura,
Slayer,
To name a few.
I'll check out 3 Inches of Blood and Opeth, thanks! [/b][/quote]
Well, when I was in my metal groove, your parents probably didn't even know each other yet!! So take this with a grain of salt... "metal" in my generation may not be the "metal" of yours....
My alltime favourite album is without doubt, the soundtrack from Heavy Metal. Some truly classic songs. The soundtrack from Heavy Metal 2000 may entice you too... more current and probably some tracks from bands you know (Pantera, System of a Down, Days of the New, Queen of the Stone Age, etc), but have not heard yet.
As for metal bands of my era, the standouts are obviously the likes of AC/DC, Judas Priest, the Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, etc. But perhaps you have not stumbled upon groups like Accept ("Metal Heart" is a cool album), Cinderella ("Night Songs"), Fastway, ("Fastway"), Angel City ("Face to Face"), Krokus ("Stayed Awake All Night", a best of..) and Ratt ("Invasion of Your Privacy", a bit more pop-ish). Although it is likely you already have heard some of those, if you haven't heard the others, they are worth checking into.... old school metal-wise.
