I do not have to do more work due to smoking, but others have expressed their displeasure to me in regards to this topic. One group on our floor always requires someone to be there at all times of the day. There are 5 people in the group and 3 of them smoke. The supervisor and 2 others consider their smoking time more important than something for a customer. This is a major issue, but the problem is the supervisor is the cause of it. Also this same supervisor is letting the Smoking group get away with more than the rest. Going home early, calling in sick more, etc.
This is not the only occurrence of this i have witnessed and it is unacceptable behavior.
Another point on Smoking was handled by a fellow employee about a boss giving him crap about going to tim hortons for 20 minutes (timed) to get a coffee. This boss smoked and the employee recorded all the time his boss missed for 2 weeks on a chart beside the time he missed. Took it to his boss and has not been bothered about it again and was told he was not allowed to share that chart with anyone else in the company.
The blind Eye that gets turned at companies in regards to smoking is BRUTAL. Once again I don't understand why they are able to waste 1.25 hrs per day smoking when the rest of us can't do that. And what if that same smoking boss doesn't allow you to go on walks just because? What if it actually was special treatment?
