The Calgary Flames have terminated the contract of troubled center Dan Ryder, who is on a Professional Tryout with Providence Bruins.
Ryder had three goals and six assists in 19 early games with the Flames but was sent to Las Vegas of the ECHL in November. In December, he was suspended by the organization for disciplinary reasons.
He had a goal and four assists in four Q-C Flames games last year before suddenly leaving the team for personal reasons.
His brother, Michael, is a member of the Montreal Canadians. Dan Ryder was a third-round Flames draft pick in 2005.
