I agree, I have no idea why we're taking so long to change over.
Really, do people actually go to bars just to smoke?
Besides I know enough people who only smoke when drinking, and hopefully that'll cut down on them too...
Smoking is one of the hardest things I have over here, people can light up anywhere, I hate it.
Obviously you've not been to Europe. This place is like California in terms of it's restrictions compared.
I'm an ex smoker, have been so for near two years now without a puff, I hear your arguments for public places, I don't really have a problem with it. I just find it a bit laughable and hypocritical that there's so much pressure on anti smoking but sorrosis (sp?) of the liver is essentially encouraged, it's an hillarious double standard. Anything alcohol gets a free ride. In Alberta and what I've seen of BC the tolerance levels for drink driving (I mean socially let alone legally) are like the middle ages!
Sure if you smoke in front of me, I may be affected. But if you drink and start a fight and glass me I am also affected, or if you climb in a car and drink drive there's an unreasonable risk of affecting me. There should be 0 tolerance for any alcohol level and it should be a criminal offense, when driving. But all the alcohol issues are never looked at, only smoking, I wish a tenth of the effort put into smoking was put into drink related issues.
Smoking laws may be behind here, but they're catching up don't worry.
