Before buying a winch you need to look carefully at their true pull ratings. Some manufacturers of more affordable winches will rate them as 9000lb pull winches but they hide in the ratings that this is under a double line pull. You can not go wrong with a Warn. I have a Warn M8000 on my Jeep and it has payed for itself a few times. Another thing worth looking at is some of the more affordable brands line speeds. Most of the times the Warn has a line speed twice as fast as the competitors when the winch is unloaded.
And usually a rule of thumb for winches is you want to get one that is capable of pulling double your vehicles weight in a single line pull.
