While no one here is going to have much sympathy for poor underpaid lawyers, those working for the federal Crown get paid considerably less than their provincial or private sector counterparts. Not only do they undercompensate federal prosecutors but they initiated a wage freeze in the midst of prolonged salary negotiations. It should be noted that federal prosecutors are responsible for drug prosecutions and, as a result, are involved in a lot of the gang files.
