I had a run in with two of them a few years after high school. It was at heritage after high school gets out. I was coming home from uni and there was a transit officer at each door in the car. I was seated at the middle.

In a total and complete set up, one officer was screaming at the top of his lungs for students to get in the car and move on down. The other one was standing there threatening to ticket anyone who pushed. The students were damned if they did and damned if they didn't. Then the idiot who was yelling to move on down screams "what, are you deaf?".

That was enough for me to stand up and confront him on his use of language and the situation he put the students in. He got in my face and we got into it a bit. As soon as I got home I called up the city and reported the incident. They weren't going to do much with it until I mentioned the "what, are you deaf?" aspect. Then they took it seriously. The guy got in crap. I even had a union rep call me up and start to chew me out for complaining, but he went away quickly when I asked him what his union's stance would be when (not if, but when) I informed the hearing impaired organizations of the position the transit union was taking on the issue.


Honestly, if it hadn't had been a total set up to stick it to the students, I probably wouldn't have done anything, but it was so clearly people with deep seated personality inadequacies that tried to be taken out on the student populace. I'd do it again if I saw it again.
