Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the Chinese will give the Brits Hong Kong back for a year in exchange for one of their movies to the Oscars next year.
Although Penn's a great actor, and I didn't see that movie, watching the Wrestler on Saturday, can't say it was any better a performance then Rourke's. Especially when you consider Rourke's career (past, present, and future) is likely to follow the same lines of this movie. Once at a much higher level of his professional for a few years, down and out for over a decade, then really out of nowhere comes back to give everyone one last taste/trip down memory lane, and likely now rarely, if ever, to be heard of again.
If Penn's character/movie wasn't based on such a polorizing social commentary, (and it was voted on as such, as is always the case in Hollywood) Rourke wins hands down.
