I liked the format of the show a lot, with the orchestra on stage, the nominated actors right up front, and the presentations by a group of five previous winners. It actually made the 'honour just to be nominated' cliche a little real, since you could tell that the nominees were touched by the tributes. Except maybe for Robert Downey Jr; he really drew the short straw in being 'acknowledged' by Cuba Gooding Jr.
And I liked seeing Kate Winslet win. I was thinking back to the episode of Extras that she was in where she was discussing how much she wanted to win an Oscar, and there's a truth to that: she looked more visibly happy (relieved) to win than any of the other nominees.
