If your motherboard has onboard video, then it would have been disabled in BIOS when your new card was put in, but the connector would still be there on the back of your computer, but coming out of the motherboard and not from a card slot.

If this was the case, you could re-enable the onboard video through the BIOS and just remove your buggered video card until you got the fix working.
