The Giants are a COMPLETELY different team without Jonathan Blum. Second night in a row I've noticed this, and thought so during the WJC as well. Full marks to the Rockets for taking advantage of sloppy defensive play and poor goaltending. I actually said to my buddy before the game (jokingly) that Sexsmith would let in 4 on 14 shots, and when the 4th Kelowna goal went in, I made a point of pointing at the scoreboard for some bragging rights.
Backlund: invisible some shifts, dominant others. Took good advantage of a Cody Almond (who had a great night) - created turnover at the Vancouver line for the eventual game-winner. At other times he kind of blended in. Rockets are much better with him though. I still think their weak (or unproven) spot is between the pipes. Guggenberger played well tonight, but wasn't really tested.
All that's left is to debate where to drive to on Sunday: Kent for Giants/T-Birds, or Chilliwack for Rockets/Bruins (which is on Sportsnet by the way).
