This guy was awesome in the 87 Canada Cup. Would have loved to have seen him play his entire career in the NHL.
Valeri Viktorovich Kamensky (
Russian: Валерий Викторович Каменский) (born
April 18,
1966 in
Voskresensk,
Soviet Union, now Russia) is a retired
Russian hockey player. Before the NHL, he started his career with
Khimik Voskresensk in the
Russian Hockey Super League (1982–85) and also played for
CSKA Moscow (1985–91). In 1991 he moved to the
NHL, where he played for the
Quebec Nordiques (1991–95, spending the '94 lock-out break in
HC Ambri-Piotta,
Switzerland),
Colorado Avalanche (1995–99),
New York Rangers (1999–2001),
Dallas Stars (2001–02) and
New Jersey Devils (2001–02). He won a Stanley Cup in 1996 with Colorado. He is also known for the amazing goal he scored with the Avalanche. He received a pass and scored while spinning in mid-air. In 2003, Kamensky returned to Russia and played two seasons for his original club
Khimik Voskresensk, retiring in 2005.
