I think the "lesson learned" that he was getting at was that in business you should always have your info in writing in case you need to prove something later on.

My thinking on this- once again as a "lesson learned" and not exactly finding fault is to not cancel a card and move at the same time. Keep the account active until you have received all of your documentation.

Black marks like this only stay on for a few years. The worst credit info will only stay on for 7 years.
