Really, until such time as you receive a zero statement, do you think it is good practice to ASS-U-ME everything is 'fine'? After all, it is YOUR credit rating that is at risk. Seems to me that a passive approach is not the way to go.

I actually agree with you. For important things like this, due diligence is necessary if you want to ensure you don't get screwed over by the incompetency of some one you don't even know. Yes, it's their job to do what you ask, but people forget, mistakes are made and frankly, some people just don't care enough. Doing extra on your own end is annoying and most of the time will be a waste of time, but some times, will prevent crap like this from happening.
