The olympics has had its fair share of bad decisions..the best that comes to mind is Roy Jones Jr's dismantling of some Korean guy in the gold medal fight..the Korean was beaten and bloody..and than given the decision. Fights like that one helped change it to the point system, but there will always be flaws when you allow someone to use thier opinion to pick a winner.
What about the other sports though? Badmitten? Ping Pong? Dancing? I mean..im all for a good dance or ping pong game but an olympic sport? I dunno.
If you consider some of the events they hold there as sports.. than why not include Chess, Checkers, Texas Hold'em, and Cheerleading as events too?

Chess was a Demonstration sport at the last Olympics.
Bridge was also a Demonstration sport in the winter olympics and Canada took the gold
