I grew up in the SF bay area, and somehow got into hockey. When I first got into hockey, I had a friend who grew up in BC and was an Oilers and Canucks fan. We collected cards and as I shuffled through my deck, I noticed the flaming C. Then I remembered that MacGyver used to were a Flames hat in the early episodes, did not know what the logo was, but thought it was cool...yeah, way obscure. I though, this will be my team

Then I came a cross 89-90 O-Pee-Chee card number #232, Theoren Fleury. Fourteen had always been my "lucky" number. Small guy, lucky number...this will be my favourite player and favourite team. I got all the Fleury cards I could get, until I "grew out of the hobby".

Basically, Theoren Fleury (and MacGyver) made me a Flames fan. Theo's OT goal celebration locked it for me...and it also pissed of my friend who was an Oilers and Canucks fan. Been a Fan ever since (way before the Sharks came to town).

I even worked at an ice rink and got all the gear that Fleury used.

Another question I have is this: Are you interested in screwing with their heads? I can think of some fun ways to convince people you're Canadian and then mess with them for years.
I listen to Fan960 when I am at work, I watch Canadian television when I can...even watched the Curling Championship last year. I cheer for Canada during the Olympics. I feel like a Canadian born in the wrong contry.

I like messing with people's heads.
