Based on the radio description, I felt the instigator itself was a bad call. Hopefully the league will see it the same.

Yeah, I agree that given the circumstances, even if they do have the automatic suspension rule the NHL does that Stone shouldn't be suspended. Checking the WHL suspension page, it appears as though he is clear to go, however Fiddler is suspended for his hit:
