Post How to avoid choking under pressure

While looking at an article about a magnetar, I found this:

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=...under-pressure

Sure it's a basic life skill that everyone should learn before they get out of school, but it is not really taught, and that there is usually a lot of trial and error about performance anxiety.

Quote:
  • Trying to concentrate on monitoring the quality of your performance is counterproductive because the cerebellum, which controls complex motor tasks, is not consciously accessible.
  • Ratcheting up the pressure at your practice sessions is the best way to avoid failing when it counts.
Really, the most interesting thing I found is the conclusion of the article, where they write that the key is to not mitigate pressure while doing the act, but to increase pressure when you are practising.
