I saved over $8000 on my new SUV just by driving up to Edmonton because the car market is more competitive up there. My wife works with lawyers and a recession means crime goes up, crime goes up lawyers get busy and next thing you know she gets a promotion and a raise. I work in the concrete industry which is seasonal and with the slowdown in subdivisions im looking forward to only working 60-70hrs a week instead of 85+hrs a week in the summer so I get more me time in the sun.
Yeah my portfolio took a $10,000 hit in the last year, but I took a loss of 13% when the entire market took a loss of almost 40% so still nothing to complain about there, just pour more money into the low market if you can and enjoy the benefits of the next boom.
