GPS only receive signals they don't send them, so no one knows how fast you're going. It's a nice little warning, especially on cars that don't have cruise control, as I've looked down on more than one occasion on a long drive and said "OH FRACK I'M DOING 140!" I'm usually a 10 kmh over type guy. The sake of the little bit of time I'll make up isn't worth the ticket for me.
PS: And I like Garmin, find their guide by far the easiest to use. If my parents can figure it out and use it, anyone can
