I agree with you to a certain extent. Radiohead do seem to attract and/or induce a lot of elitism from their fans. They just seem to be one of those cultural touchstones. Those who love them,
live them, and can't understand anyone that doesn't 'get' it.
This in turn seems to inspire a backlash for all things Radiohead from those outside this group - who don't 'get' it, or more probably, don't
want to get it - A backlash that is probably unfair to the band itself.
But what can you do? Music is and will always be one of the preeminent sites for this type of commodification and negotiation of cultural capital.
