After being in a cramped 1 bedroom apartment the last couple months in a bad part of town, and being declined for a mortgage because my fiancee is considered self employed and the banks won't even look at us despite us making good money, having our downpayment and with excellent credit.
You'd be surprised how bad we want this.

Just a thought, but have you looked in to assumable mortgages?

Good idea. Assumables are an option or you can even look into rent to own's. Although sometimes you end up paying a premium for those.
I am surprised you can't qualify for a mortgage. Have you tried a number of different mortgage brokers? I know a few good ones if you want to give them a try. They are very good at getting questionable applications approved. [/b][/quote]
The areas we've been looking at are just being built up and there doesn't seem to be many assumable mortgages. We tried a few different brokers and they all say the same thing.... credit is great, make good money, but our lendors have an issue with the contract/self employment stuff.
As for the rental. Still have not heard anything. We left a voice mail for her on Saturday morning and she has not called back. I checked with my manager and she hasn't called her yet to verify stuff. So maybe she's ignoring us. We've pretty much given up on that house now and aren't holding out hope that she'll call.
