I watched it, and liked it a lot. I kept watching right up until Noah Wylie left, and even by then it had become pretty "soapy". While the personal stories of the staff were always important, when they became more important than the medical storyline I lost interest.
The storyline with Bob Newhart was very well done, it really showed a different aspect to his acting.
