"The Toronto Blue Jays avoided arbitration with reliever Brian Tallet and claimed right-hander T.J. Beam off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.

Russ Adams, a first-round pick in 2002 taken in the club's first draft under GM J.P. Ricciardi, was designated for assignment to make room for Beam."

Jays only action this off season seems to be claiming players from Waivers. In the last couple of days the Jays have claimed two players from Waivers to make room Curtis Thigpen was designated for assignment and its intersting to see that Russ Adams was also designated for assignment.

"The Blue Jays are close to reaching an agreement on a Minor League contract with free-agent first baseman Kevin Millar, according to a report in the New York Post. The deal would include an invitation to attend Spring Training with the big league club. "Millar, 37, would seem to fit that description. Last season with the Orioles, the right-handed-hitting Millar posted a .234 average with 20 home runs and 72 RBIs in 145 games. Vernon Wells, who finished the 2008 campaign with 20 homers, was the only player to club at least that many long balls for the Jays last year. "

As for the Minor League Contract offer to Kevin Millar, personally I see this as a solid move. If Millar accepts the contract and if he makes the team thats great if not its no big deal.
