I select in the 2008 category, DEAR SCIENCE by TV ON THE RADIO (2008):
Perhaps an obvious choice (the most critically acclaimed record of 2008), but every time I listen, new levels are appreciated. At first I could not decide if I liked this one better than
Return To Cookie Mountain (2006), but this one is revealing itself to be one of my all-time favorites. There is nothing like
Wolf Like Me here, except maybe the last part of
Halfway Home. This record sounds more like Prince at times. I saw them at Mac Hall last fall, and was not familiar with the new songs. It takes a few listens for these songs to sink in. TVOTR is on SNL this Saturday, and Colbert on Monday.
