The amber lights in Calgary are probably close to 5 seconds aren't they? They are usually long enough for my wife and I to have this conversation:
Wife: are you going to stop?
me: nope
Wife: But it's going to turn red.
me: no it isn't
Wife: Jesus!
me: * as we pass under it * aaaaaaand still yellow
