Few things:

1. It is illegal. Whether you like it or agree with it, use of the herb is illegal in the US, just ask Ricky Williams.
2. Much of the US is anti drug crazy (well the gov't is)
3. he is famous for what he did (does), let's not loose site of that. Rightly or wrongly he is under a microscope. Even at 23 he should be smart enough to know about the dangers of doing this where it can be view, photographed and put on the net. BTW, 23 is not young.
