I guess thats the frustrating thing, while I know moderates are not the problem, they are certainly not the ones outspoken against the more zealot of their faith.

Aren't we? Or is it rather that the zealots make for better soundbites and the moderates are... well, moderate? Don't we all hate Fred Phelps? But you know what, that's not exciting. No one gets media coverage for saying it's wrong.
If you want the moderates to become MORE outspoken, aren't they then at risk of becoming zealots?
