before this gets derailed into a 'e.r. is boring... good riddance' i'll throw my two-cents in to respond to the OP.

I'll be sad to see it go. I watched it when it first aired and kept up with it for the first couple seasons. Eventually I stopped watching (I think Thursdays ended up being big drinking nights for me or something). Anyway, my partner and I have been re-visiting the show through the DVDs, and we recently finished the 9th season. While it may have lost some of its originality as time went on, it still is pretty good. I'm waiting for the 10th season to be released... I can't say I care too much about the new cast, but the original cast was outstanding and I'm glad they've found ways to revisit them. Really stoked to see Clooney agree to come back for a bit...

For those of you who haven't seen it, I'd really encourage you to watch the first season on DVD. In my opinion - and I think my TV opinions match with many on this board - it's one of the best seasons of a TV show I've seen. Totally coherent and great closure at the end of the 1st season, I'd say it watches more like a long movie. Fantastic acting and really nuanced character development...

I'll miss it...
