This is all the Brazilian style of bbq called Churrasco and these steakhouses are called Churrascarias. They don't normally have whole steaks like we do, even at home in Brazil, they cut it up. The waiters (gauchos) bring the meat on skewers and you eat until you can't anymore. There's also a good buffet of salads, veggies, potatoes and stuff. I recommed the FEIJOADA. It's Brazil's national dish of black beans stewed with pork. It's very good.
I haven't been to the one at Cravings in Calgary because it doesn't look as good, but Gaucho and Bolero are great. Bolero has perhaps a better selection of meat, better feijoada and the great cinnamon pineapple, but I find the meat tastier at Gaucho. Both places make caipirinhas (Brazil's national drink made from sugar cane liquor called Cachaca) and they make them well, but they need more sugar to taste like they really do in Brazil.
Fogo do Chao is a chain from Sao Paulo that some cities in the US have. Samba in Vancouver off of Robson is also a Churrascaria. These places are great but you have to go to Brazil to eat the real thing. Just awesome! I think they are worth the money because if you think about it, how much would a rack of lamb or big steak cost you at a steakhouse? Easily $20-30. You eat one or two and you already got your money's worth.
