i found that my answers skewed liberal when presented with only the two options per question, where i would normally have chosen something in between the two extremes on most of the questions
For example,
3. Gay marriage
Should be legal and given the same rights as heterosexual marriage.
Should not be legal. Marriage is between a man and a woman.
I feel that gay marriage shouldn't be marriage, per se, but something should come with all the benefits of a regular marriage (civil union with increased benefits, etc)
7. Carrying a gun is:
Taking responsibility for one's own defense, and admirable
Dangerous and sketchy
I think carrying a gun is your call. It's in the US Constitution and therefore, if you've got the permits and know how to use it, you're fine, but if you're gonna get a gun through less-than-legal means and screw around with it (as the dangerous minorities do), then it's a problem. I also think that the US letting the assault weapons ban run out is beyond stupid.
19. The problem with the US justice system is:
Too many plea bargains and loose interpretations of law
Not enough rehabilitation and prisoner's rights
The answer is somewhere in the middle. Obviously if repeat offenders are getting out with very little time served, there's something seriously wrong, and on top of that, people like OJ Simpson, Robert Blake, etc. that are clearly 100% guilty are getting off scott free. That's the problem with the United States' criminal justice system. Prisons are just revolving doors where criminals learn how to be better criminals.
Just my opinions, but I think the test should have had an "Answer is somewhere in the middle" option for the questions.
