Maybe 20 years ago, make no mistake. Tiger Woods face is recognized throughout the entire planet...but I don't think he's an icon in people eyes like some of the others. For fun I showed the pictures below to my 9 year old.

He knew number 1 was "Bob" because of the christmas rerun shows on one of the family stations..He couldn't remember his last name but when i said "Hope" ..he did.
No question with number 2...he says Dad!! everyone knows Tiger
Number 3?...looks like a soccer player..and this kid has played in Soccer leagues since he was 5, but he didn't know Pele by picture (he has heard of him though.)
Number 4?...no idea, when I told him it was the Pope he asked..wheres his tall hat?. might help if he was Catholic though.
Number 5? LOL ..some mad guy
Number 6? no idea and has never heard of him..I guess Pele wins the war with Beckham as far as popularity with Soccer kids.
