It's a tough question.

First, are we talking most # of people that would recognize said person? Then it becomes a person who's popular in China and India. To have it be more accurate I would have the criteria relate to recognizability on each continent, list them 1-5 and see who makes all 6 lists. Since we are talking about most recognized in the world I would want a system that balances sheer numbers with area, otherwise like I said, it has to be someone who is famous in China/India because they'd blow everyone else away.

Can Jesus and Santa count? Or are we talking living people?

How are we determining it? Showing them a series of pictures and asking them who they recognize? Do they just have to say they've seen it before? Or do they have to give the persons name?


BTW I'd say the top 10 or so would be: Bush, Jesus, Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Hitler, Stalin, Ghandi, maybe the Pope John Paul II, Beckham or Ali
