Well there is a reason behind it.. women tend to need to tell "their story" to cope with extreme situations (good or bad pregnancy events).

If you take a prenatal class (which I highly recommend you do) they might go into some stuff like this; I know ours did and it helped deal with that stuff when the stories came.

It doesn't excuse it, but it helps to know the reason sometimes.

We've also had some bad experiences, and as Ironhorse said we keep it private unless there's a good reason and context to talk about it.

That's also why I have only one piece of advice to any couple that have just found out they are pregnant with their first: Don't tell anyone until after the first ultrasound. Keep it private until then, it's much better that way.
