My wife got the same thing. Women get mad at us for making our off the cuff comments (made in attempts at humor), yet they don't always hold back on their comments that may scare or hurt others.
The Doc told us that he may be able to hear the babies heartbeat at 12 weeks, so we went and couldn't hear it. Well people were telling my wife that "Yeah, that happened to me too, I (or somebody they new) had a miscarriage" or "That means you have twins" etc. etc. (not that twins is a bad thing, just a scary thing!
) My wife's own sister made her feel bad for trying to hear the heartbeat so soon because nobody can hear the heartbeat so soon... well if the doctor told us he may be able to hear it then who are we to argue him?
It has been good lately though, my wife hasn't been getting the scary comments anymore, just the plain rude comments like "Wow you look like you're ready to pop anyday now!"
