That's unreal. But I've heard comments like that myself sometimes, and everytime I've felt an urge to slap that person.
We've had some bad experiences ourselves, but we generally keep these stories to ourselves unless asked (or in a "neutral" environment if the subject comes up), since we know how sensitive a subject it can be.
Being pregnant is hard enough on your wife without having to hear these stories.
