Take off and do your thing. Travel. Be enthused . But whenever you are ready to start working - and who knows, for all you know you could find a job anywhere in the world during your travels - apply to the gov't. Your French will be quite useful then. You don't need to get more schooling; they will do any training they want you to do or have...and there are jobs that your degree would be directly applicable to (e.g. translation services).
The government was definitely something I've looked at a bit, mostly because I think most of their positions require you to be bilingual. My ideal job would definitely be something to do with translation. But I think you're right, travel first... and see what else is out there too!
