What daradon said is bang on. The cost of the phone when you initially bought it is heavily discounted. On rogers end, they make up for this discount with the long term contracts and the payments you make. The longer the term you sign, the more months the discount is spread over so the discount is larger.

Giving you a new phone only 1 year into a 3 year contract with a heavy discount means they will be out 66% of the discount they gave you before.

You MAY get only $100 off the cost of a different phone, but you will probably end up paying near full price (ie $500-$800). If you want the phone that badly, you may need to look at the used market.
