If you want to play it on a regular car audio CD player then yeah you'll have to burn to regular blank CD's.

Some newer decks can actually read MP3's from burned CDs and DVDs so you could have 600MB or 4.7GB of MP3's rather than the standard 70 minutes of music, but unless your deck specifically supports that you'll have to burn regular CD's.
