That's a not bad unit at that price (would never get it at $150), but there are some better out there.

For less you can get the Benq 1620 Pro from Memory Express for $70:

Or from BCom for even less ($62):

And I would say the Benq is an overall better drive, though you should avoid the really cheap media for best results.

It'll burn CD's though with blank DVD's pretty reasonably priced they're even better (fit more on one disc).

For media, any blank DVD+R that says Made in Japan is good:
