Cancer sucks.

Yeah, not to be a downer...

Six years ago, one of my dad's best friends, in her early 50's, died of brain cancer.

Four years ago, my wife's friend, late 30's, got a brain tumour removed the same day she gave birth to twins. Luckily, she has had no recurrence, it seems that the pregnancy hormones caused a small benign tumour to start rapidly growing. As a result of the surgery she no longer has a sense of smell.

Two years ago, my wife's aunt, early 50's, died of brain cancer.

A few months ago, the husband of another of my wife's friends, (mid-40's) was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He was at my son's birthday party the day before his operation (On Halloween Day) and has come through the operation pretty well but still has and will have lingering effects for who knows how long.

Luckily, 2 of 4 were not malignant, but wow, I always thought of brain tumours as a pretty rare thing, but in the past few years they've been popping up regular as clockwork around us.

Bizarre...
